Why this camp?

As a parent of ADHD kids, I searched for summer options that were active and engaging. My kids loved hiking, exploring, and building-- no classroom atmosphere or cutesy crafts would cut it. The options I found that matched their interests were five or more hours away and too expensive.

This inspired me to create a hands-on, wilderness skill-building event right here in the Mini-Cassia area. I wanted to create something my kids would love and that would benefit the community as a whole.

Plus, who doesn't need some sweet survival skills?

Meet the Coordinator

My name is Kara Oliverson

I was born and raised in Acequia, graduated from Minico in 2010 and now live in Rupert with my husband and four children. My sister and I run the Mini-Cassia Craft Fair together, I help with the paperwork for my husband's construction business, Country Sky Construction, and I write books (mostly fantasy). I love to hike, camp, bike, explore, paint, read, tackle home projects, and be outdoors. I also love to explore with my kids and for them to be outside using their imaginations instead of inside on screens!
